Thursday Doors – June 18, 2015

Another Montréal Church door for you this week. Built in 1911 Église Sainte-Cécile is on de Castelnau East on the northern edge of Montreal’s Little Italy.

As you can see this door has fallen into a bit of a state of disrepair. You can see the pale spots where exposure to the elements and lack a of regular maintenance has worn the finish off the wood.

Here’s another one of my favorite skewed perspective style shots. Judging by the the fundraising thermometer on the left, they seem to have recently started a campaign to raise money for renovations and repairs. I sure hope the doors are on the list before rot starts to set into that wood.

  8. An amazing design this one Norm – without the glass part it almost looks like it should have been a piece of furniture, I like the weathered look too!

I think the thing I like about doors like this is how they worked to get it to blend in with the rest of the architecture. It’s an amazing work of functional art. Great shot.

  16. Gorgeous doors that just need a little updating. The round window above them is gorgeous as well.
