Tuesdays of Texture

Here’s my entry for this week’s Tuesdays of Texture.

Nature can be incredibly resilient at times and I just found this tree clinging to its rocky home truly captivating. I particularly like the way the roots weaved their way among the rocks so I stopped to get some closer shots from a few different angles.

These are my favorites:

Such cool photos…I wish I could take photos. I can appreciate these things when others capture them, but I don’t have the eye for it myself in the moment, nor the artistic ability to portray it correctly. I see people and notice things that others may not…but art wise I’m just all “well that is pretty!”

Thanks. Still so much to learn but I truly love it. I think we’ll all have some sort of artistic streak in us, it’s just that if we don’t cultivate it, it sort of atrophies. The good news is that it can be re-learned 🙂

A large portion of the yard here was “de-forested” a few years back. I’ve never seen more rocks anywhere! Mom and I joke about how trees seem to grow rocks. Every time I dig a new garden bed where the trees were, I have to remove sooooooooo many rocks.

I guess maybe the tree roots gravitate towards the rocks because it’s a more solid surface to latch on to? Fascinating though.

I really don’t know, but I do know for sure that trees grow well with their roots tangled in them. We’ve been getting more tropical storms here in the past few years (part of the reason our trees got cut). When the wind uproots one a crap-tonne of rocks come up with the roots.

I’d really love to know how and why that began in the first place!

Like how long it has been there and how close it may have come to tumbling over? There’s definitely an interesting story in there.

I’m thinking more about how the rocks came to be there. How did the tree actually begin growing on them? The rocks seem to have a definite structure, like they’d been assembled there. So if that was the case, how did the tree begin growing on them?
