Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. More of Montréal’s Ruelles Vertes #2
Before we get started: Considering that most of us have not been able to travel for many months, I know it’s not easy coming up with ideas and content for new posts. With that in mind this is just a quick reminder to let you know that recycling old or previously posted images into a new Thursday Doors post is totally okay. Feel free to be creative and let’s keep having a bit of fun through all of this craziness 😉
And now let’s continue exploring Montréal’s Ruelles Vertes:
This one was even greener than most.
There was something about the clean lines and simple look that drew me to this one. The horizontal window near the top caught my attention and for me that was enough to seal the deal.
And at the completely opposite end of the spectrum…
Have a seat and relax a spell.
Not quite sure what this mural is supposed to be but I like it.
This storage bench doesn’t officially have doors but I’m counting the two hinged covers as doors all the same.
And when you get shadows and light like this, a photographer will tend to hang around and play for a while. I took close to 20 different shots of these two 😀
As always: thanks for looking 🙂

Beautiful doors, Norm. My very favorite one is the third one. The colors and, as you said, the simplicity, made it welcoming.

This doors post was delightful. It made me feel good all over. The vines, light and shadows, and even the horizontal window were wonderful. Thank you, Norm.

Thank you so much for another joyful instalment. I can feel the joy you felt at these doors and the light.
My doors are all from three days last September when I took new visitors around the places you’ll recognise.

Thanks Manja. It was a pleasant stroll and productive doorscursion. Plus I also got to show my sweetie some more of the neighbourhood where I grew up.

That last one is to die for. Expect some archive pictures from me next week, but this week I actually have some newly photographed doors from Cheltenham https://scooj.org/2020/09/18/thursday-doors-17-september-2020/

Thanks. I had so much fun playing the light and shadows on the last two 🙂

The colorful Black-Eyed Susans and grass look like you’ve had lots of rain there. I like all your doors and in the picture entitled “Have a seat and relax a spell” the light green structure looks like a garage but does not appear to have much depth – is the back of the garage hidden or an optical illusion of some type?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thanks Linda. I know the angle makes it look like it has no depth but that structure is in fact a full one-car garage.

OK, thanks Norm – I thought maybe it was some type of storage shed made to match a garage.

It’s so lovely to imagine strolling down this road, like in a storybook. 🙂 I especially like the last two doors with the light and shadow!

Hi Norm, I hope you had a good break. Here is my link for this week: https://robertawrites235681907.wordpress.com/2020/09/17/thursdaydoors-mccaigs-tower-oben-scotland/
I enjoyed your interesting selection of doors this week. Mine are arches so I hope that counts as it is still a doorway into the tower.

I agree – having fun with doors in a great way of dealing with this craziness. And, yes, hinged covers are doors, too. A door is defined (in a web dictionary) “a hinged, sliding, or revolving barrier at the entrance to a building, room, or vehicle, or in the framework of a cupboard.” Those hinged covers are on horizontal cupboards. 😉

Thanks Debi. I agree hinged covers are, or should be, considered doors 😉

Oh yes, great light and shadow. My favourite is the last photo. And I love that storage bench that is operating as a mini library.
I’ve only got 1 door this week – but it has plenty of history, and some tempting goods on sale inside https://travelwithintent.com/2020/09/17/open-door-princess-louise-london/

Thanks Debbie. When the light and shadows are just right I can stand there and experiment until the light changes 😉

These are all attractive, Norm, but that first door (second photo) is the most appealing to me today with its air of mystery and lovely vines. Happy Thursday.

As always, these are all beautiful doors, Norm. That storage bench is of interest to me, is that located outdoors? Here is mine https://mywanderings.travel.blog/2020/09/17/cape-bojeador-lighthouse/

Yes the bench is outdoors. I’m not sure if they leave it out in the winter though. It looks heavy so I’m guessing they bring the contents inside and leave the bench out all year long.

Very pleasant. I just saw a metre long snake trying to get under my door here in rural Zambia. It was more frightened that I was. Here are my local doors: https://drprunesquallor279704606.wordpress.com/2020/09/17/thursday-doors-kakumbi/

These are all nice, Norm. I like the first one the best. I like the corner braces, that’s an idea I’m going to remember. I understand about playing in the shadows. Each picture just a little different. I love the bench with the storage and the books. I like how they built it over the speed bumps. By the way? Is that what you call them? We have bumps, bumps and speed tables (depending on width).
Of all the photos, I like the opening one the best. The green lane has a very nice feel to it.
My random doors are at https://nofacilities.com/2020/09/17/random-hiatus-doors-thursdaydoors/
I hope you have a great weekend.

Thanks Dan. Yes we call them speed bumps here too. I didn’t know there were different names for them based on size though.
