More of Montréal’s Ruelles Vertes #8

More interesting discoveries from Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood.

Note: These were all taken at the beginning of October. Most of the colourful leaves that you see in these shots have all fallen by now. Around here the pretty part of autumn is beautiful but oh so brief.

Let’s head up this way and see what we find.

Worn but functional.

Happiness? Hey, that’s what it says 😉

A waterfall of leafy beauty.

Even the hidden ones don’t escape me.

The colours sure got my attention.

There seems to be even more mystery behind this one than there is in front of it.

To me this one just says “Welcome.”

I see a red door….

A knight in rusted armour.

As always I thank you for looking 🙂

  3. Oh, Norm, each week your post is like a warm colour hug. It’s just so pretty and welcoming and eye-resting. I love each of your photos and together they are magic.

I continue the tour of Farnese. This time there is a cat door and my future gallery doors with a great view (I wish!).

Thanks Manja. I’m glad you’re enjoying them. One more post with fall colours to come next week. It’s such a brief part of the season but luckily if I take enough photos I can stretch it out over a few weeks 🙂

  4. That first shot shows a really lovely place. What a pleasure it must be to walk there. Also to discover a door which seems to have been painted by Miro!

Today I have a gate built for an emperor through which an empire walked into the sunset: https://anotherglobaleater.wordpress.com/2020/10/29/cabbages-and-kings/

Really interesting and neat doors especially the one with the winding staircase. Mine is a rather boring one but thought I’d submit 🙂 https://thankfulbylily.ca/2020/10/29/thursday-doors-a-retired-firehouse/

  9. You even included a red door. However, the autumn foliage just stole the show for me. Beautiful time of year. Here’s my offering, thanks Norm; https://jeanreinhardt.wordpress.com/2020/10/29/thursday-doors-a-town-a-poet-and-a-book/

Am glad you took these when you did, because it looks like here in Texas it will not even get to the bright turning of leaves! Love the first view and also the intense yellow by the gate. Thank you for walking this road to capture the season!

There is no question that the leafy beauty enhances each photo. This first photo calls to me to walk down that lane.

  13. This is one of the three doors of the Village Inn pub in the village of Twyning near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England. I’m not sure if this particular door has appeared in Thursday Doors before, but the artists work certainly has and will do again in the very near future. I will be posting a whole bunch of them in the run up to Christmas because the landlord and landlady have traditionally had the doors painted with Christmas scenes every year and also for Remembrance Sunday (Armistice Day) and some of those will appear next week. Sadly the current landlord and lady will be leaving soon so it remains to be seen if their replacements continue the tradition. https://theartblogger54.wordpress.com/2020/10/29/street-art-by-brandons-murals-v6-the-village-inn-pizza-night/

Such an abundance of great doors. The most striking photograph is the yellow fence and door with the yellow leaves scattered in front of it. The bit of street art is really interesting too, beautifully done. Keep these ruelles vertes coming!

Are you a Peter and Gordon fan? Gosh darn you, Norm, now I’ll have “Knight in Rusty Armor” stuck in my head! I love that first picture, with the Ruelle looking like a country lane. And I’m a big fan of cascades of vines. We used to have cascades of English Ivy in our front yard, but Charlie hated it for some reason. He and #2 Daughter (who studies landscape architecture) crowded it to death with a native groundcover. ~weeps~

Four hinges on the yellow door in the fence? Seems like overkill, but then I don’t have a yellow fence so what do I know!

I love the fall colors and the door colors. So many of the doors seem ready for fall. It’s hard to pick a favorite. The opening shot, the waterfall, the green door, they’re all in the running.
