More of Montréal’s Ruelles Vertes #7

Here is another one of  Plateau Mont-Royal’s Green Laneways with some interesting murals thrown into the mix just for fun.

Little free library with an artsy touch – note the fancy steel support post too.

I don’t always run off with a walrus on my shoulders but when I do… 😀

I guess the wooden fence came after the chain link one.

A moose in need of a touch-up.

A quick paint job would do wonders for this one.

Laundry day.

Narrow? Seriously, I cannot see a grown adult walking through this one without having to turn sideways.

This one works great on its own…

but it’s actually part of a lovely weathered old set, with a car parked in front of the “no parking” signs.

    The doors are either exquisite or really weathered – a diverse collection for sure. I always enjoy the murals. I wonder what made the paint peel off the moose – maybe it was deliberate? What a shame as it looks like a lot of time/effort went into creating it.

    As each time, I love the idea, the light, the art and the library! Doors are just a bonus, and similarly to my own post, I don’t really care whether there is a door or not in a photo, I just love them all.

    My post is the beginning of our wonderful last Sunday, before Flavia joined me. Farnese is the town and if I tell you that it’s quite similar to Pitigliano, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

    To me, the narrow door looks like someone was busily making the fence, and forgot they needed a gate for people, so they snuck in a little one in the last panel 😛

    A happy collection again this week, Norm. I enjoy the little libraries you show. I recently came across one in our neighborhood. I had no idea they were here too. I liked the laundry graffiti, so cute, and the walrus is a hoot.

    The colors on that mural of the moose is so cheerful. Love the garden gates, they are getting fancy these days. And the library, I’ve yet to see one in person. Nice. Lovely post Norm.

    I love the little libraries, the moose, and that last set of weathered doors, but of course I liked all of them. Glad to know you’re not carrying a walrus on your back, although I’m sure some days it feels like it.

        My husband was going to get me one for Christmas before we decided to move and then was thinking about it again here, but with Covid, I’m not sure if people would want to take books. Another issue here is that there aren’t tree lawns, or whatever Canadians call the strip of grass between the street and sidewalk. Sidewalks just go right to the curb, so you’d have to put the library in your yard and the ground here is so hard that I don’t know how you’d get a hole big enough!!

    I have run out of cool things to say about these ruelles vertes posts. I am so enjoying them. The murals are amazing… what’s going on with the walrus? The last doors are wonderful and the context around them paints a lovely picture.

    The little free library looks like it was designed be M.C. Escher. I really like that! The murals are wonderful. I really enjoy seeing how people have transformed these ordinary spaces into fancy-filled walks. That narrow foot is well made, but you’re right, that’s a tight squeeze. My top and bottom would be ok, but I’d have to suck in my middle 😏
