More of Montréal’s Ruelles Vertes #6
For this week’s exploration of Montréal’s Green Laneways we move a little south and west into the Plateau Mont-Royal borough.
The Plateau as we call it, is a blend of quiet tree-lined residential streets mixed in among more commercial boulevards that showcase some of the trendiest shops and restaurants in the city.
If you want to see what the Plateau will look like in a few months when winter takes hold, you can take a peek at these posts from a few years ago here, here and here. But for now let’s go make our way through another Green Laneway while it’s still green 😉
Bricked over, painted over, ghost door?
I almost walked right past this one.
and this one.
This however was impossible not to notice.
In these spaces this is a frequently seen friendly reminder.
I just loved the way the light was glowing on the tin siding of this old shed.
No door but smile-inducing all the same.
I swear there is a door in there.
Someone had fun prettying up these stairs.
A fresh coat of paint perhaps?
This door/gate is nothing to write home about but the uplifting message of gratitude and hope kind of resonates, especially in these less than inspiring times.
As always I thank you for dropping in 🙂

I really enjoy this series, so bright and colorful! My favorite is the painting of the large bumble bee. =) The quote at the end is inspiring. We should indeed savor every moment!
Lovely, Norm!
Here’s mine (just under the wire). Take care!

Thanks Brenda. It seems that appreciating what we have is something we humans need to be reminded to do on a regular basis 😉

A most excellent collection once again. These are a never-ending door source! And so colourful and happy. I love how busy your photos are with colours and patterns and I see that the light does its part as well.
My post is the continuation of Tarquinia doors from one month ago. That heat is in the past now. We have sub 10 degrees in the night now.

Thanks Manja. As I’m sure I’ve said before these discoveries are allowing me to get and explore out safely, and still have some fun. Yes the light is amazing around here at this time of year.

Thanks. Yes, some things sound better in other languages just as some only sound right in English – that’s the beauty of different languages.

Wow, I can’t believe how artistic people in your country are. We don’t have doors like this here. Here is my post, Norm: https://robertawrites235681907.wordpress.com/2020/10/15/thursdaydoors-duxford-air-museum/

Thanks Roberta. Lots of talent out there but I can confirm that I am not one of those artistic people 😉

have you noticed, animals change their sound with the language? Cows in Holland say Boe. Here it is Boo. The French hear the owl say Bou:) These friendly wall paintings I would not call graffiti, but I like them.

Thanks Janet. I’m really impressed by the artistic quality of a lot of these murals. Coming from a guy who can barely draw a stickman properly, I had no idea there were so many talented people out there.

I understand that artistic level very well. 🙂 I could say I resemble that remark. I could draw pretty well when I was young but never really kept up with it.

I have no idea why this door was here, except possibly as a service door protecting something that was left exposed during repairs:

What enthusiastic murals! And I love the orange fence/door so bright it was almost invisible. I only have one door this week, but it’s a corner one! https://marianallen.com/2020/10/still-here-thursdaydoors/

Those murals are what I needed today! My brain needs colour. I’m all over the place, doing good things but feeling frazzled in the process. It made me put my own door in my post for today. A premiere 🙂 https://unassortedstories.wordpress.com/2020/10/15/4149/

Wonderful doors and uplifting messages, Norm. I think we have to remember our dreams, now, more than ever. It’s Aldo a great reminder that the ordinary and utilitarian can also be beautiful.
My doors, and scenery are on the other Mt. Holyoke today – https://nofacilities.com/2020/10/15/mt-holyoke-summit-thursdaydoors/

I love those colourful murals and that sweet notice on the wooden gate. Even in the snow, the area is appealing. One of your links reminded me that we no longer have Leonard Cohen with us, still hard to believe he’s gone.
