More of Montréal’s Ruelles Vertes

Hey there everyone! After a 3-week break I’m glad to be back. I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe.

Since Covid-19 cases are gradually creeping up again in our part of the world, so during my time off we really didn’t want to risk going anywhere too far from home.  I did however find a familiar subject to keep exploring in relative safety closer to home.

As you know I had a grand old time discovering some of the city’s Green Laneways before the break, and during my time off  I did some further research and found out that the city is now up to 450 Ruelles Vertes! Of  course not all of them have nice doors but all the same I’ll have lots of cool destinations to check out through the fall, and lots to share from those outings I’m sure.

Here’s one of the latest ones I found. For obvious reasons it is referred to by residents as the Elf or Gnome Trail…you’ll see what I mean in a minute:

At the beginning of this one I came across someone taking a break from working on a new mural.

It was nice to see that the door was included in their plans.

And now on to some adorable little discoveries…

Home sweet home, but I’m thinking that at their age they may want to trade in that rope ladder for some nice wide stairs with a sturdy railing.

    That Vine covered Door/Building is Sublime! I have always had a Passion for Salvaging Architectural Details like Old Doors and Old Windows taken from Historic Homes. it used to be considered high Eccentric in the 1970’s when I began Rescuing them, now it’s a lot more appreciated and even lucrative. Even tho’ I don’t find as many of them curbside to Rescue now, I’m glad more are not being Lost to the Landfills and are being Preserved. They just don’t make ’em like they used to. Some are incredible, like Works of Art.

    Welcome back; hope you had a nice vacation break, Norm. I forgot if I mentioned this on your last post but I saw a feature on Montreal with a video visit to the Ruell Vertes and it was nice to see something that you had featured. Great to see that the tour continues.

      Thanks Gordon. No I don’t remember you mentioning anything about a Montreal video you saw, but since they’re getting pretty popular I’m not surprised that the concept is getting some attention.

    What a cheerful come back after your anniversary break. So that it doesn’t go without noticing – congratulations to both of you! 😉

    I’m really glad that you’re back as it seems that you’re the only one that can stir me into blogging motion. These doors are from the last Saturday when we got together with Flavia again, this time with my door modelling uncle. We had a most excellent time. The doors will show and tell. Welcome back and ruelles vertes rule!

    Oh, seeing that you’re a probable Raptors fan I must warn you not to get your hopes up. Heat is on. 😉 (With Slovenian Dragon. But probably you don’t care for basketball much. You’ve got other sports.)

      Thanks for the warm wishes my friend. We wanted to celebrate by going away for a few days but cases are on the rise here again so we played it safe and decided to stay close to home.
      I’m glad to hear my influence was able to stir you into blogging motion 🙂
      I haven’t followed the NBA since I was in high school. I couldn’t tell you why exactly but for some reason I just can’t seem to care about basketball. Also there’s a big rivalry between Montreal and Toronto so you won’t find many people here that celebrate the successes of ANY team from Toronto.

    For fun my hubster’s police buddies used to have a traveling gnome. He was secretly delivered to your doorstep and was just a fun way to entertain each other lol It had been a piece of property to be destroyed but they couldn’t bring themselves to end its ‘life’. Good post this Thursday Norm!!

    Love the cheerful blue wall with the door! As well as the little detail with the little gnomes.:) Had an extended time without wifi because I moved from West to East coast of the USA. Now I’m finally connected again…

    Great doors to reboot the series, Norm. I laughed out loud about the little guy checking Thursday Doors on his phone – I mean, what else would he be doing? I also had to chuckle at the rope ladder. It does look like that couple could use those easy stairs.

    I’m glad to hear that you are well and I understand that travel will be guided by the desire to stay well. We are waiting to see what the opening of school does to the relatively good numbers we’ve been enjoying. It seems it only takes a few mistakes to send things heading in the wrong direction.

      Thanks Dan. Schools opened here last week and yes, you’re right: it only takes a few mistakes to send things in the wrong direction. We were going to take a short overnight trip up to Quebec City this weekend but with cases rising again we’ve scuttled those plans for now.
