Thursday Doors – July 16, 2020

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Street Art Doors in Rosemont/Petite-Patrie, Montréal (Part #1)

Continuing our exploration of Montréal’s Ruelles Vertes/Green Laneways here’s a selection of street-art doors.

Most of them are on garage doors or storage sheds built on top of the garage. A lot of the art is quite good…well at least it is to my untrained eye 😉

An access door to some kind of storage loft above a parking garage.

Incorporating a storage shed above the garage seems to have been a popular feature at some point.

I wish I had my wide-angle lens with me for this one. Tight spaces and big murals = not the greatest shot 😦

      Thanks Linda. It’s getting so popular here that scoping it out is not really necessary. One can almost trip over good street art these days 😉

        That’s interesting Norm – we probably have that in Detroit, especially given the fact that there are many abandoned buildings (some standing empty since the 1967 Detroit Riots).

        I follow a woman blogger from Berlin. She writes about kitschy items of all types. Her recent post was about how artwork, like you have captured in this post, is used to adorn large construction sites now. She had some samples in her post:

        This is all such good news. Not sure when our trips will resume, but I think we will take fewer holidays abroad, but make them last longer to avoid too much flying.

    Oh, thank you for these shapes and colours. Instant happiness boost. Is it still as hot there? Here it’s around 25 tops! And the sea is colder than usual, mom complains. Plus there are non-stinging jellyfish.

    I’m inland in Ljubljana though and today, as it happens, just one gate. Be well.

      Thanks. you’ll find tons of amazing street art here. For the last few years they’ve been running and annual mural festival with top street artists from all over the world participating. It’s quite something to see them at work.

    Large scale creations like these are fascinating to me. Being able to visualize on such a scale has to be a unique talent! My favourite is the long tower-ish looking building with the pink snake. My first reaction was that this was a giant pencil. Now I’m not so sure what the artist was actually depicting.

      Creativity on such a large scale always impresses me. I can imagine all of the things that have to be done just right for the project to be a success. There are some truly talented people out there.

    Excellent Norm. Love the one with the face. So many different styles in there too. So for this week there’s yet another one from London based French artist Zabou – yep. Same pub / same doors again. Still got one more in the pipeline but that’s a Halloween special. This one has an Alice in Wonderland theme.     I love that area, Norm. I particularly like the last but one shot, with the door hiding beneath the guy’s bent legs. The artist mage great use of his canvas.

    These are fun, Norm. Some of those storage sheds look pretty big. I think the art gives a nice vibe to what could be a dreary alley, and I agree, they are well done. Talented, imaginative people at work. I like them. I do see what you mean about needing a wider angle lens.

      Thanks Dan. Normally I could have switched to the wide angle in a heartbeat…except on that day I left the camera bag at home and only brought the camera with its kit lens: D’OH!
      All is well here, safe and sound, and staying cool. Hope everything is good down your way as well. From what I’ve read CT seems to have virus spread under control at the moment.

        We are doing well here, Norm. They’ve slowed the pace of reopening, but we have many things open (partially) so that we can do most things, if we’re careful. They were going to open bars next week, but that’s been postponed for a long while, I assume.
