Thursday Doors – July 9, 2020

Ruelles Vertes in Rosemont/Petite-Patrie, Montréal (Part #2)

Here are a few more shots from my recent exploration of Montréal’s Ruelles Vertes/Green Laneways.

This seemed appropriate in a place that tries to soften the rough edges of daily urban life by adding a little more green space and a little less asphalt:

Like how I squeezed a door from across the street into the shot?

“The earth does not belong to man, it is man who belongs to the earth.” I can’t help but wonder how much better off we’d all be if more people thought this way.

This is a door. I swear it is. I even checked 😉

    Love the murals. Yeah, Native Americans had the right idea of preserving the land. Too bad we never learned from them.

    I love the Ruelles Vertes program, and I really enjoyed your photos from last week and this! The laneway with the Minions was fantastic as well as the Theatre de la Ruelle. I’m all for less asphalt and more green. Take care!

    I love them all, even the (not) pretty in pink.

    ”CABINET OF CURIOSITY
    My previous mural on the side of the Bell Pub in Whitechapel featured Jack The Ripper, whose murders (according to legend) took place very near the venue.

    I’ve refreshed the wall by creating this cabinet of curiosity themed artwork – which echoes the decoration inside the pub. This was a way of using the multiple frames as shelvings showcasing weird objects.

    The main character, holding a magnifying glass, raises his hand to pick up a pedestrian walking past – what a great add-on to his collection!

    A wonderful mix, Norm, and quite a few doors in brick color 🙂 which I loved.

    First, you have pulled a striking quote into your post and, although I was familiar with it, I had to look it up. “How can you buy or sell the sky, the warmth of the land? The idea is strange to us.” said Chief Seattle further and I can see the tragedy behind his words. The mural is beautiful, from the choice of colors to the idea of a hand holding a magnifying glass… and I liked how you squeezed a door into the shot 😉

    My fav door will be the ‘simple beauty’ 🙂 but the repurposed back closet (??) is equally intriguing.

    Today my Thursday Doors post looks at only three doors from Corvin Castle, Romania, but also at a short history of door knocking and a few coat of arms 🙂
