Thursday Doors – July 9, 2020

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing your link in the comments below, anytime between Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time).

Ruelles Vertes in Rosemont/Petite-Patrie, Montréal (Part #2)

Here are a few more shots from my recent exploration of Montréal’s Ruelles Vertes/Green Laneways.

In case you missed it you can find out what they’re all about by checking out my post from last week here.

This seemed appropriate in a place that tries to soften the rough edges of daily urban life by adding a little more green space and a little less asphalt:

Like how I squeezed a door from across the street into the shot?

“The earth does not belong to man, it is man who belongs to the earth.” I can’t help but wonder how much better off we’d all be if more people thought this way.

Simple beauty

This is a door. I swear it is. I even checked 😉

They can’t all be pretty.

Urban gardening even when you don’t have the space for it. Bravo!

And a few garage doors to finish off:

To share your own Thursday Doors post just paste your link in the comments section below so that others can visit and have a look at your discoveries. Remember: you have until noon eastern North American time on Saturday to add your link.

As always, if you have the time, please take a few minutes to visit some of the Thursday Door posts shared by our other contributors.

Thank you for looking 🙂

  1. Love the murals. Yeah, Native Americans had the right idea of preserving the land. Too bad we never learned from them.

  10. I love them all, even the (not) pretty in pink.

I’m still taking it easy and breathing in Slovenia and all it has to offer. My blog will understand, I’m sure. Here are some one-year-old doors that I forgot to post from our regional Tuscany capital Grosseto.

  14. Glad you checked on that one door Norm. It didn’t look like a door at first, then I noticed it was a jar. Guess that was you checking. Lovely story on Montreal doors and the program to green the laneways.
This is my post for Thursday Doors. Hope you enjoy.

  29. And yet another one from Zabou and a reappearance of the doors of the Bell pub in Spitalfields, London. https://theartblogger54.wordpress.com/2020/07/09/street-art-by-zabou-12-cabinet-of-curiosity/. Here’s an extract from the artists website that explains the piece:

    ”CABINET OF CURIOSITY
My previous mural on the side of the Bell Pub in Whitechapel featured Jack The Ripper, whose murders (according to legend) took place very near the venue.

I’ve refreshed the wall by creating this cabinet of curiosity themed artwork – which echoes the decoration inside the pub. This was a way of using the multiple frames as shelvings showcasing weird objects.

The main character, holding a magnifying glass, raises his hand to pick up a pedestrian walking past – what a great add-on to his collection!

  30. A wonderful mix, Norm, and quite a few doors in brick color 🙂 which I loved.

First, you have pulled a striking quote into your post and, although I was familiar with it, I had to look it up. “How can you buy or sell the sky, the warmth of the land? The idea is strange to us.” said Chief Seattle further and I can see the tragedy behind his words. The mural is beautiful, from the choice of colors to the idea of a hand holding a magnifying glass… and I liked how you squeezed a door into the shot 😉

My fav door will be the ‘simple beauty’ 🙂 but the repurposed back closet (??) is equally intriguing.

Today my Thursday Doors post looks at only three doors from Corvin Castle, Romania, but also at a short history of door knocking and a few coat of arms 🙂
