Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. New York Doors 

Here’s a bunch of doors found on previous trips to New York City. I’m going to savour these ones extra-slow and a lot more deliberately than usual because it may be quite a while before it’s safe for me to travel there again 😦

    That hutch with the gothic arcs carved into it and the wrought-iron hardware — that’s a marvelous find! I also really like the hammered metal doors in the meat packing district.

    An interesting collection of doors this week, Norm. This is a side of NY most of us would never see. I especially liked the little cabinet and the doors from the Cloisters with a leaping animal (a dog?) on them.

    I haven’t been to NYC in years. My fiance lives in NJ and the last time I went to NYC we saw an off-broadway show. Love the silver shiny gate.

      New York is close enough for us that it’s an ideal destination for a long weekend trip, or a short mini-vacation. We’ll go again for sure…one day…when it’s safe.

    Great collection of doors! I really like the door to the antique refrigerator (I am guessing) with the pottery pieces on the top and the beautiful arched door standing open from the middle just below.

    They are relaxing lockdown restrictions here in France. I don’t like it much, but I did leave my apartment for the first time in several weeks to go to the store. It was a little scary, but my husband, son, and I got it done and are again pretty stocked for another stay-in. It might be some time now, but I like to remind myself when I feel stressed, that “this too shall pass.” We’ll all return to our normal doorscursions! Take care and thanks so much for hosting, Norm!

    Your travel may be restricted but you managed to produce a great selection of doors, Norm. That metal gate is so new looking, the shine is almost blinding. Hopefully it will not be too long before you can revisit them. Here’s my post for this week, thanks.

      Thanks Jean. We saw a lot of that type of metal gate and fencing in that specific neighbourhood…very unusual. I haven’t seen it anywhere else.

      Thanks Andrew. They had a few pieces of old furniture there that were just as impressive, but then anything made of wood that’s still fully functional after 5-6 centuries impresses me 😉

    Another well-balanced collection, Norm. I agree, we better savour them extra slowly. One never knows. Oh my, the Cloisters! 😮 But my very favourite is the one before last. It’s so wild that it needs to be tethered. 😀

    Gorgeous selection, Norm! I haven’t been to New York City in many years (pre-door addition). And, you are right, it probably will be a long,long time before many of us feel comfortable enough to return. Hard to pick a favorite… but the wooden door tied open and the Chelsea Market elevators are definitely in the running.

    Some great shots! The door with the fly (roach?) over it and the word COST on the wall – is quite strange for a door in a meat packing district.

    Lovely collection. New York City is always interesting to walk around. If you are unsure of when you will next go there, from half a world away I wonder if I’ll ever do it again.

    Nice to see these New York doors. I have a fondness for the city and it has been awful to see all the suffering there. My favourites include the wooden church doors with relief decoration and the lift doors, though the numbers on them are a puzzle. You’ve reminded me that NY was my first experience of lifts that did not go to every floor.

    These are great doors, Norm! I love the Cloisters and it was great seeing those doors again. That worn wooden door that’s tied open is a great door photo. Sometimes it’s the door, sometimes it’s the photographer. This is a great example of the later.
