Thursday Doors – April 9, 2020

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Weathered and Worn Local Sheds and Garages

I’m doing a little recycling this week. All of these are shots that were previously used in a variety of older posts. Unless you’ve been dooring around with me for a good while here, it’s quite possible that you may not have already seen these.

Either way, I thought that after a few years they deserved a second look:

    I like the first door the best of all of them Norm. A fresh coat of paint on the door, window partitions and on the door/window frames sure spruced it up, as did the flowers in the planter … until your eyes traveled to the bottom of the door and saw the ragged edges.

        Yes, it gives the door character doesn’t it Yvonne – kind of like a weathered barn. A park where I go has a petting farm and all the barns were red with the white cross buck design on the doors. They were in good shape except one very weathered barn and no animals were there, just equipment. It made a great place to take photos, all the peeling red paint, the white picket fence surrounding it, somewhat dilapidated with nails sticking out and a gorgeous lilac bush. It was a favorite place of mine to take pictures – went one day late last year, and it was demolished and a huge hole where they will build a modern storage shed , a building with zero character.

          I had to look up ‘cross buck design’! My education continues apace.

          Old, dilapidated buildings hold a lot of charms for the observer and photogapher, maybe not so much for the owner.

    You give a well-balanced assortment of doors and gates that works as a whole and I love them all. No worries about the repeat of old ones, your doors are always good to see, and the least possible worries about everything else. Worries and fear reduce immunity. Think super hero thoughts. 🙂

    My set of glorious doors is from Viterbo, the last trip I took with Flavia. Seems like a lifetime away. There is also a poem.

    I like the “watch your step door”. Someone took the trouble to design the boards in a diamond pattern and it is very attractive.

    I love the garage door. What was the purpose of the “watch your step” door. Did it once have stairs, or was it a loading door of some type? Reminds me of the loft doors on my grandfather’s barn.

    I’ve been following from when it was just Norm and his doors, and these all looked good to me. You can recycle doors like this any time. Those orange doors at the top are sweet, and I really got a kick out of the upper door on that tall building I really like the faded color. A lot of these just need some TLC. Perhaps these doors can serve as a warning to those of us who are often a bit lazy when it comes to painting.

      Thanks Dan. It was a lot of fun to go back through my older images. In fact I had forgotten a lot of these myself 😀
      I still have some unused doors for a few more “new” posts, but if we’re locked down as long as I think we might be, I will be doing some more recycling in the weeks to come.

    Good morning Norm, I hope all is well with you. I was moved by your diary blog entry earlier in the week, and although I have no major health problems, at 56 I too am anxious for myself and those around me.
