Weathered and Worn Local Sheds and Garages
I’m doing a little recycling this week. All of these are shots that were previously used in a variety of older posts. Unless you’ve been dooring around with me for a good while here, it’s quite possible that you may not have already seen these.
Either way, I thought that after a few years they deserved a second look:
Let me know which ones you like best and of course, feel free to post and share your own Thursday Doors.
To share your Thursday Doors post this week just paste your link in the comments section below so that others can visit and have a look at your door discoveries. Remember: you have until noon eastern North American time on Saturday to add your link.
And while you’re here please do take the time to visit some of the other Thursday Doors posts shared by our contributors. Just click on a few of the links you’ll find in the comments below.
As always, thanks for looking 🙂

I like the first door the best of all of them Norm. A fresh coat of paint on the door, window partitions and on the door/window frames sure spruced it up, as did the flowers in the planter … until your eyes traveled to the bottom of the door and saw the ragged edges.
LikeLiked by 2 people
That’s my favourite also, and I would keep the weather beaten bottom edge.

Yes, it gives the door character doesn’t it Yvonne – kind of like a weathered barn. A park where I go has a petting farm and all the barns were red with the white cross buck design on the doors. They were in good shape except one very weathered barn and no animals were there, just equipment. It made a great place to take photos, all the peeling red paint, the white picket fence surrounding it, somewhat dilapidated with nails sticking out and a gorgeous lilac bush. It was a favorite place of mine to take pictures – went one day late last year, and it was demolished and a huge hole where they will build a modern storage shed , a building with zero character.

I had to look up ‘cross buck design’! My education continues apace.
Old, dilapidated buildings hold a lot of charms for the observer and photogapher, maybe not so much for the owner.

I have a cross-buck storm door too – it probably is an archaic term Yvonne. I like how the cross-buck is on red barn doors – they somehow make them look more rustic.

Thanks Linda. Yes the ragged edges are kinda like a fly in your soup: hard not to look at 😉

Interesting coincidence…without specifically thinking about doors, I chose one as a symbol for what I miss. I wish I could open this door like Alice in Wonderland and find a place where all of these things still happen https://helpincoronatimes.wordpress.com/2020/04/08/what-i-miss/

Hello Norm, my vote has to go to the yellow door (the first one) with the red flowers next to it. It’s such a vibrant shot.. perfect to cheer us up! For my door this week, I’m back in Paris. https://marlaonthemove.com/2020/04/09/thursday-doors-paris-6/

You give a well-balanced assortment of doors and gates that works as a whole and I love them all. No worries about the repeat of old ones, your doors are always good to see, and the least possible worries about everything else. Worries and fear reduce immunity. Think super hero thoughts. 🙂
My set of glorious doors is from Viterbo, the last trip I took with Flavia. Seems like a lifetime away. There is also a poem.

I like the “watch your step door”. Someone took the trouble to design the boards in a diamond pattern and it is very attractive.
Here is San Carlos Cathedral, Monterey, California.

You’re right! That design was definitely thought out in advance and took some serious skill to build.

I love the garage door. What was the purpose of the “watch your step” door. Did it once have stairs, or was it a loading door of some type? Reminds me of the loft doors on my grandfather’s barn.

Thanks Maggie. Both possibilities seem plausible for that “watch your step” door.

Nice collection Norm. First door gets the vote. Shed doors get that toothy look as the bottom wood deteriorates. And hey its a shed and doors weather…

Thanks John. It proves that over time doors, just like people, can get a little ragged around the edges 😀

I’ve been following from when it was just Norm and his doors, and these all looked good to me. You can recycle doors like this any time. Those orange doors at the top are sweet, and I really got a kick out of the upper door on that tall building I really like the faded color. A lot of these just need some TLC. Perhaps these doors can serve as a warning to those of us who are often a bit lazy when it comes to painting.

I still have some unused doors for a few more “new” posts, but if we’re locked down as long as I think we might be, I will be doing some more recycling in the weeks to come.

Good morning Norm, I hope all is well with you. I was moved by your diary blog entry earlier in the week, and although I have no major health problems, at 56 I too am anxious for myself and those around me.
The first orange door is really striking and I am always a sucker for doors above doors, nice collection.
