Rainbows of Hope
This week’s post is brought to you by some of the children in our neighbourhood.
Time is a bit of a blur these days what with the entire world on ‘pause’, but I think here in the province of Québec we’re into our second (or is it third?) week of school shutdowns.
I can only imagine how challenging it has been for parents to keep their little ones not only safe, but distracted and occupied as well.
On our daily walks to get some fresh air and a bit of exercise, we recently started noticing many homes around our neighbourhood were putting up drawings of rainbows in their windows.
It seems that having children draw rainbows to display in their windows is trending around the globe
and it’s such a wonderful way to spread a positive message of hope from our little ones, just when the world needs it most.
It certainly helps keep them occupied, if only briefly,
and I guess it can give them a sense of contributing to making things a bit better by spreading smiles and lifting spirits.
So this week it’s not so much about pretty doors but about a message from the youngest members of society;
a message of hope and solidarity, and of course, to share a few smiles too 😀
I can say that it has certainly caused a few smiles for us on our walks,
and I look forward to seeing new ones each time we go out.
What about where you live? Have children there started sharing rainbows too?
Thanks for joining me for a sunny spring stroll close to home 🙂

I saw that on the news. I think that’s great message during this gloomy time. We don’t have children around the trailer park much.

Such a cheerful post Norm in these unsettling days, thank you for brightening up my day. Glad that you’re able to get out and about in the fresh air. I appreciate the freedom to do so here at the moment, as everyone seems to be putting social distancing into practice. Here’s my offering for this week. https://jeanreinhardt.wordpress.com/2020/03/27/thursday-doors-cavan-county-museum-6/

This is wonderful, Norm. That they are drawing rainbows, that you pass such lovely houses, and the effect of sun on snow that I miss.
Over here no kids, no rainbows, just some Italian flags have appeared. These are almost all the doors that I’ve been passing twice a day for a month:

Thank you Manja. Once all of this is over I’m hoping we’ll be able to take you guys on an in-person tour of our little corner of the world, but you can tell Amore it can be when all the ‘drama’ has melted 😉
We’re keeping a close eye on the news out of Italy. I want to believe that the worst of it is almost over *fingers crossed*

What a fabulous idea! I’ll look for them on my next neighborhood walk. I’ve seen mention of putting stuffed bears in windows so kids can go “bear hunting” as they go walking with their parents. I love when people come together like that to support each other.

I thought it was such a heartwarming idea, right when we all need a boost. I look for them and the bears whenever we go out for our daily walk 🙂

That is awesome to see these rainbows. In many instances, children are still unspoilt and see the good and can hope, while ours is often unfortunately marred and blurred by logic, scepticism or opinions of others. This while you were in your search for doors! Incredible and happy for you:)

Children are putting rainbows in their windows here as well along with the slogan the brightest rainbow comes after the darkest storm. We are under lockdown so I could not do a door post. I thought you might enjoy my Oxford from last summer. Strange to think that the crowds of tourists made it difficult to take photos.https://www.theplatinumline.blog/oxford-for-the-day/

Beautiful rainbows, and some very nice doors, too! Our house is back in the woods, so we don’t see other people’s windows. the only other houses back here don’t have any young children. I’m enjoying the rainbows popping up on the internet, though. My doors this week are fairly new ones INSIDE my house. https://marianallen.com/2020/03/new-around-the-house-thursdaydoors/

Thanks Joanne. Yes, again this winter the heavy snow came late but they came often enough for it to pile up. Also, out here they don’t clear the snow like they do in the city, they just push it onto everyone’s land.
Keeping our fingers crossed that the spring melt stays slow to avoid flooding. The last thing they need in town right now is to have to evacuate flood zone residents from their homes into community shelters.

Thanks Stephen. Yes lots of snow left on the lawns here north of the city. Thankfully spring that has been slow so far this year. Too warm or too much rain all at once and many places and end up with spring flooding. The last thing we’d need right now is people forced to leave their homes for community shelters.

I understand. Here in England and Wales there are many people locked down in homes that were badly flooded by storm Dennis. Not much fun at all.

This is a lovely idea. We’re just ending Day 1of NZ’s lockdown and I haven’t heard about the rainbows. We are having a national bear hunt (from the Helen Oxenbury story), with people putting teddy bears in their windows for kids to find when they’re out walking with parents.
