Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Boldt Castle – Alexandria Bay, NY – Part 2

First a quick thank you to everyone for your patience last week. It took me much longer than usual to get around to everyone’s posts because a heavy windstorm knocked out our electrical power on Friday morning and we didn’t get it back until late Sunday.

To make things even more interesting in the Montréal area we’re supposed to be getting out first measurable snowfall of the season today.

I think the snow will just make looking back at these pics of a warm sunny summer day at Boldt Castle that much more pleasant.

This week we’ll have a look at some of the upstairs floors, and we’ll take a quick stroll around the grounds.

    Another fancy, beautiful place! What a great variety in doors, too!
    I really like the metalwork door in the stone, with the arch, but I also really like the brown painted wooden doors near the warning sign.
    The ceiling, the railing — all such beauty!

    They don’t make doors, trim, or hardware like this anymore so it was a nice opportunity to see what the craftsmen of yesterday created. I really like the last door with the scroll hardware. I know it’s probably not as beautiful as the inside ones, but it calls to me. 🙂

    Great symmetry in these shots! Love you could get 3 stories in the same image – impressive. Many doors and love the dotted floor too. Sorry, I know how inconvenient power outage can be. And how it take a while to get back on track afterward, even though you want to!

    Being without power for the entire weekend must have created more than a few challenges! Hope that’s not an indication of what’s to come in the months ahead. We woke up to a blanket of snow this morning and it’s still falling. Sigh. I’m not ready for winter. I guess I better go dig out my winter boots and coat this morning.

    I still look at this castle and think it’s a shame that no one ever got to live in it. The iron gates/doors are my favourite. It seems that more thought went into making the external doors interesting compared to the internal doors.

    Seeing that castle would warm up any day, Norm, but I can empathize with you having just gotten back from 2 week in Arizona and then southern California. I’d planned to walk in the park this morning and am trying to summon up the energy to go out with the temperature is 23 and feels like 13! Lovely castle and doors (and that gate isn’t too shabby, either.)

      Thanks Manja. Luckily it was only a few Cms of snow and most of it has already melted. The power grid is still unstable; we’ve lost power at least 3 times this week, for much shorter periods. Hopefully they get everything back up and stabilized soon.
