Thursday Doors – October 31, 2019

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Halloween Door, Montréal, Québec

First off, you’ll notice I decided to deviate from the usual pretty/interesting doors post this week in order to have a little fun with Halloween.

These are all from a few weekends ago while exploring the borough of Outremont. I came upon this home where the owners seem to take their Halloween decorating very seriously.

Since these shots were taken at the beginning of the month most of these leaves will be on the ground by now and probably add an even scarier graveyard effect to the whole scene.

Can you imagine the amazement of all the young trick-or-treaters marching up the walkway to this place after dark?

Ooooh spooky!

And from the extension chords, lights, and speakers I saw I can imagine that it must be a full-on haunted house experience after the sun goes down.

I just hope they’re handing out ‘the good candy’ to all those brave enough to run this gauntlet 😉

They’re forecasting heavy rains for Halloween evening in these parts so let’s hope the forecasts are wrong and everyone can get out and enjoy safely.

I’ll be back with some regular non-spooky doors next week but until then to all the ghosts and goblins, witches, ghouls, and of course we can’t forget you zombies who celebrate it: a very Happy Halloween to you all!

    Spooky house. It stormed here with even wind. I was going to hand out candy at my uncle’s church, but the church canceled the event.

    Fun! Fun stuff! I had the same idea, but not the same motivation. We’d been somewhere, doing something and I saw this new rope spider web thing on a house and I thought, Oh I should come back and snap these — and then when the weekend came, I went hiking instead. So yeah, you got the goods here, way better than what I found! 🙂

      I know how you feel Joey. It’s like time seems to fly by so fast lately. If I don’t do something the minute I think of it, it’s almost certain that I won’t circle back and do it later 😀

    I love seeing homes that go” all out” in decorating for Halloween. I’m not one of those, but I appreciate and admire those that are. Storms came through here. I don’t live in a neighborhood that gets trick-or-treaters so I don’t know if anyone braved the soggy mess.

    Oh my goodness!!! In Finland no-one decorates like this for Halloween, so I find it greatly fascinating. I personally am more into cute Halloween decor 😛 But nevertheless, I am in awe of anyone who has managed to do this.

    A very fun post, and creepy too! =) I didn’t realize they celebrated Halloween (trick-or-treat) here in France until the doorbell rang at sundown. On the other side of the door the cutest little girl dressed as a pumpkin stood with her bag outstretched. We started looking around the house for cookies or anything. She looked confused and asked “pas de candy?” We asked her mother if they could wait as my husband jumped into his shoes and ran across the street to buy some candy. Lots of fun and cute kids!!

    #1 Grandson loves spooky and keeps telling us our house isn’t spooky enough. It’s not spooky at all this year since he’s not here, but he does get creeped out easily still. I don’t think he’d venture up that walkway or stairs for a treat at this place. I don’t think too many little ones will go up!

    People are really getting into this Holiday for the last several years. I guess at last those that call this one their favorite can finally let out their feelings and decorate to their heart’s content.

    Wow, these guys have really gone to town. Amazing job.

    Celebrating Halloween in the UK when I was a kid was a very tame affair – a carved pumpkin or alternative was pretty much it. Now it has become very Americanised with a whole month of costumes and sweets in all the supermarkets. The youngsters love it. I think I missed the boat somewhere along the line.

    Some people really do go all out for Hallowe’en!! To be honest, I’ve never really understood Hallowe’en. It’s so just …. odd.

    I think it’s going to be a bust for trick-or-treaters this year. There are going to be a lot of unhappy children this year … not to mention all the people who dropped a small fortune on candy.

      Yeah, it can all be a bit much but I do remember it being an awful lot of fun when I was a kid. Looks like a lot of local municipalities are now asking for folks to postpone their trick-or-treating until Friday because of the heavy rains coming tonight. Either way, somehow I don’t think of the candy will go to waste 😉

    I’m with you, Norm, I hope the candy is good – full size Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups would work for me 😉 We have some people who go all out here, we don’t decorate for Halloween.
