Pitigliano, Mon Amour – Part #1

Oh goodie, more Italian doors!

No folks I’m not quite done with the incredible quantity of doors I captured during our time in Italy last fall.

One of my favourite discoveries during the all-too-brief time we spent visiting with Manja in Tuscany was the town of Pitigliano.

Perched on a hilltop made of volcanic rock, the ancient town has so much charm that I instantly fell in love with the place.

The fact that there was an over-abundance of wonderful old and new doors worth capturing, simply sealed the deal.

And when it wasn’t the doors themselves that caught my eye it was the unique hardware.

A Fiat in a doorway? Gee, what country could this be? 😉

We walked around the village for a few hours and literally everywhere we turned, there was reason to stop and capture doors.

Stay tuned, I’ll have a few more from this wonderful town next week too 🙂

As always, thanks for stopping in 🙂

  4. Hi Norm!

I don’t think you can have too many awesome Italian doors! My favorite photo is the one with the bright red and green door with the incredible staircase. Great shot, but all the doors are incredible. =)

Thanks Sherri. Stay cool. I commiserate with you on the heat. We have an outdoor concert to go to this evening and they’re announcing close to 100 F with the humidity. Not sure I’ll last through the whole show. #FingersCrossed #StayHydrated

I especially love the red and green doors also. And yes, you captured the light! I also loved the detail of the carved door handle. At first I thought it was a ram because of the horn, but looking at the face, I’m not so sure.

I am not certain how one could every truly ever be done with doors in Italy! Love, the green & red combination & the fiat made me smile. I am picturing some beautiful Italian jumping into the car & racing down the road, preferably to a vineyard!

  20. Ahh, what a wonderful throwback Thursday. 🙂 I see your photos and say amore mio with you to these doors, this town, this country. It is spoiling me and everybody who visits, doorwise and every other kind of -wise.

This is a little bit of reverse homesickness, I believe, since now I’m in my country of origin. Here are some Ljubljana doors from one street:

Stay tuned? You’d have to pry me away next Thursday, Norm. I love the doors at the top. And, I love all the doors that follow. I get all excited when I stumble across one old wooden door. You have so many, and you’re pushing all my buttons – arches, curved panels, old doors, worn doors and neat hardware. Thanks for sharing these!

As if Italy isn’t charming enough it has to have an abundance of doors to capture our attention!

I like the scene with the twin doors in the 3rd photo – everything about the greenery, golden stone, and the contrasting red and green doors.
