Thursday Doors – April 18, 2019

An Afternoon Stroll with Friends in Massa Marittima, Tuscany – Part #3

With this post I finally wrap up a wonderful visit to the ancient town of Massa Marittima in southwestern Tuscany. You can see the previous posts here and here and here.

Like how I stretched out a visit to a town that lasted a few hours into four quality doors posts?

Yeah, I thought so 😉

Don’t worry I’ll have something different for next week, I promise.

I was almost tempted to move the scooter for my shot, but hey, who wants to get arrested in another country right?

I want to thank our wonderful hosts for their incredible hospitality and for sharing their magical corner of Italy with us so enthusiastically. Making friends online through blogging is a wonderful gift. Finding out how well you get along and how much your online impressions were right because you enjoy each others’ company even more in-person? Well, that is simply priceless.

Grazie to Manja, Marco, and yes you too Fonsie. I hope that one day we’ll have the opportunity to return the favour here in Canada.

    Loved the trio doors who all have the top door at the same height but the bottom was different due to the street. Makes me wonder what it like in side. Great pictures.

    It does say a lot when you can get 4 posts out of a visit that lasted only a few hours. I always marvel at the wonderful golden light of Manja’s posts and there it is in your posts as well. You have to love Italy!!

    Ahh! 🙂 I’m glad that you say what you say about your – and my – impressions holding water. Of course, I moved countries already based on online impressions so I’m not surprised any more. 😉

    I’d say see you in Canada but maybe you’ll return here before we are able to cross over.

    As far as doors are concerned, the one with the scooter is the prettiest. But also the next one. And the next one. And the one with the barrel, and and…

    Also, it is so funny to see bestia on another blog. 😀

    All in all, we did pretty well, didn’t we? 🙂 No reason why we shouldn’t repeat it. All well to you both and a happy spring! (My post coming a bit later.)

    As long as you have doors like these, Norm, don’t feel bad about keeping us in one place too long. Something different is not required.

    I love the arched stone entrances with the wooden doors and the fan transom windows. So much work. It’s like the stone masons and the woodworkers were inspiring each other.
