Thursday Doors – April 18, 2019

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing your link in the comments below, anytime between Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time).

An Afternoon Stroll with Friends in Massa Marittima, Tuscany – Part #3

With this post I finally wrap up a wonderful visit to the ancient town of Massa Marittima in southwestern Tuscany. You can see the previous posts here and here and here.

Like how I stretched out a visit to a town that lasted a few hours into four quality doors posts?

Yeah, I thought so 😉

Don’t worry I’ll have something different for next week, I promise.

I was almost tempted to move the scooter for my shot, but hey, who wants to get arrested in another country right?

No handle – an exit only perhaps?

I guess they only use half of this one.

Classic Tuscany…

…with ornate hardware.

A door on the left, and front and center an entrance through the old town walls.

Another elaborate beauty with no handle.

A trio spotted while leaving – Ciao!

I want to thank our wonderful hosts for their incredible hospitality and for sharing their magical corner of Italy with us so enthusiastically. Making friends online through blogging is a wonderful gift. Finding out how well you get along and how much your online impressions were right because you enjoy each others’ company even more in-person? Well, that is simply priceless.

Grazie to Manja, Marco, and yes you too Fonsie. I hope that one day we’ll have the opportunity to return the favour here in Canada.

As always I thank you for stopping in 🙂

Want to join in on the fun and share your own Thursday Doors post with other door lovers? Then simply add the link to your Thursday Doors post in the comments section below.

Don’t forget that if you share your blog posts on social media, use the #ThursdayDoors hashtag to help others find you, and please do take a few minutes to visit some of the Thursday Door posts shared by others.

  3. Another great doorscursion post; thanks for sharing, Norm and thanks to Manja for guiding you to these great towns and villages. By the way, that scooter was perfectly placed for that shot so I’m glad you worked it into the composition (I would have done that).

My post doesn’t do justice to your post but here is a small contribution to the other TD writers and door photographers: https://undiscoverdimagesamongstus2.wordpress.com/2019/04/19/moss-beach-distillery/

The scooter – very cute door by the way -you may not have been arrested – but more chance to be laying in a bloodied heap on the cobble stones – Italians are warm-blooded:) 🙂

By the way, I had to change my title because I couldn’t get through on the blogspot linkys. So my NEW LINK for the same post is https://wp.me/p9EWyp-O3

Such a pity that your trip has come to its end. No doubt you’ll be back for more! Your wonderful Italian doors remind me so much of the doors I see in Spain. I’ve posted a photo of an ancient, yet solid, full of character and useful! I’ve posted a short poem too as I’m taking part in #NaPoWriMo https://lucciagray.com/2019/04/18/napowrimo-day-18-worn-not-dead-poetrymonth-april-poems-thursdaydoors/

Loved the trio doors who all have the top door at the same height but the bottom was different due to the street. Makes me wonder what it like in side. Great pictures.

  24. Ahh! 🙂 I’m glad that you say what you say about your – and my – impressions holding water. Of course, I moved countries already based on online impressions so I’m not surprised any more. 😉

I’d say see you in Canada but maybe you’ll return here before we are able to cross over.

As far as doors are concerned, the one with the scooter is the prettiest. But also the next one. And the next one. And the one with the barrel, and and…

Also, it is so funny to see bestia on another blog. 😀

All in all, we did pretty well, didn’t we? 🙂 No reason why we shouldn’t repeat it. All well to you both and a happy spring! (My post coming a bit later.)

As long as you have doors like these, Norm, don’t feel bad about keeping us in one place too long. Something different is not required.

I love the arched stone entrances with the wooden doors and the fan transom windows. So much work. It’s like the stone masons and the woodworkers were inspiring each other.
