Thursday Doors – March 7, 2019

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing your link in the comments below, anytime between Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time).

RIP Gaston la Grenouille –  Important Note Regarding the Link-up Tool:

Our adorable froggie-friend Gaston la Grenouille is officially roadkill.

Yes friends I have decided to part ways with our Inlinkz link-up tool because as some of you noticed last week, their free version now uses clickbait/spam type ads mixed in with the legitimate links.

Ultra-annoying and so not cool, but not enough to make me spring for their paid version.

So as much as it pains me to not have all the links in one nice neat place, while I continue my search for an alternative I will simply ask you to share your links in the comments section at the end of my posts.

In the meantime here are some shots I dug out of the archives from early last spring during a visit to the iconic Royal York Hotel in Toronto.

I’ll let you click on that link above which will take you to the Wiki entry where you can read about the history of this grand jewel in the CP Hotels crown, or you can read this informative plaque instead 😉

I’ll apologize in advance for phoning it in this week. It has been a hectic week and I haven’t had time to put together anything else.  To make matters worse, when I decided to go with this as my post I was certain I had way more shots to work with. Well it turns out that I don’t so yeah we could call this post: Two Doors and an Entrance With a Fancy Clock 🙂

Love the ornate center handles.

I have no idea why they still have an ashtray beside this elevator door. It has been at least 15 years since smoking has been permitted indoors in public spaces.

And if you ever visit Toronto and you’re in the downtown area take a half hour to visit, walk around and explore the handsomely decorated lobby of this historic old building.

I’ll back with more sexy Italian doors next week.

Thanks for stopping in 🙂

Want to join in on the fun and share your own Thursday Doors post with other door lovers? Then please add the link to your Thursday Doors post in the comments section below.

Don’t forget that if you share your blog posts on social media, use the #ThursdayDoors hashtag to help others find you, and please do take a few minutes to visit some of the Thursday Door posts shared by others.

  1. Sorry to read about the blue froggy…I had to abandon the link-ups too, for Sunday Stills…I was paying but the links were becoming an extra step that many were not bothering with. I have a doors post for March 21!

Oh that staircase shot! Oh the clock and the circles and the shiiine! Love that, Norm!
Too bad about Gaston. I didn’t experience any unpleasant ad business, I must have been lucky. I hope you find us all a linker soon 🙂

Some comments to you made me smile – I knew some would sympathize with your decision. I wished some blogspot people would decide the same, but unfortunately links in their comments seem to give the hosts problems. When I linked here, it was waaaayyy passed my bedtime, so I didn’t see (or didn’t remember!) the clock – nice touch – I have a preference for big clocks! Thanks for hosting and don’t worry too much about how people link – if they like your challenge, they will do whatever is available!

Thanks. To be honest I’m more concerned with finding whatever is most practical and least time-consuming for me. I love running this event but it does take up a fair amount of time for a hobby 😉

    Hi Norm,
Alas poor froggie must’ve got mixed up with the cane toads and met its end on a country road up near Byron Bay. As terrible as it sounds, running over cane toads which are toxic and kill our native wildlife is actually taking care of the environment.
Here’s my link to the unmentionable…a toilet door.

The staircase and the clock are a wonderful sight, Norm, but I have to laugh a little about the Board Room doors. I’ve been to so many meetings where I have tried to get a photo of the closed doors to the meeting room, but people keep wanting to go in or out. One of my friends once told several people, “hang on a minute, Dan needs to get a picture of those doors for Thursday Doors.”

The steps might be slightly different depending on the device and operating system you’re using but generally when you log in you are taken to the main dashboard. On the left side of the dashboard there’s a list, down the side of the page, of topics each user can manage, personalize, and configure on their blog. “Comments” is found between “Media” and “Feedback”. Click on it, then select the “Spam” tab. There’ll probably be actual spam in there that you’ll want to delete, but every once in a while a legitimate comment gets caught. Just ID it as Not Spam and it shouldn’t happen again.

Pity about the frog link, blooming annoying really.

I seem to have a great many busy weeks where I struggle to organise door pictures so I know how challenging it can be. I’ve done some lazy ones this week at: https://scooj.org/2019/03/07/thursday-doors-64/

  39. Aaaaa! The frog is dead! No link-up! This is one deadly winter! Those were really pesky ads though. I hope you find another solution. Good luck with that! We could look through links in the comments, sure, like we do in other challenges, but Thursday Doors have spoiled us rotten.

I wouldn’t know that you were phoning in your doors if there wasn’t the same photo posted twice. 😉 The last photo is so glamorous! Excellent! Must be a grand feeling once you’re inside.
