Everything Looks Prettier in the Snow – Vieux Terrebonne Part 1

Keeping it close to home this week, it was a perfectly mild, snowy day, ideal for a doorscursion around the historical old section of Terrebonne.

In case you’re wondering, Terrebonne lies directly off the northeastern tip of Laval, just north of Montreal on a section of the Milles-Iles River.

 

With a population of close to 115,000 Terrebonne is the largest city in the Lanaudiere region of the Province of Quebec and the tenth largest city overall within the province.

The first French settlements in the area date back to the 1670’s and parts of Vieux (Old) Terrebonne contain some of the best preserved heritage buildings in the province.

Take a stroll through Vieux Terrebonne and you’ll find some wonderful examples of 18th and 19th century Québecois architecture.

Everything looks prettier surrounded by falling snow, don’t ya think?

You’ ll find a number of lovely old stone buildings

Even the iron fence surrounding the old seminary school is worth stopping to admire.

And on the more modern buildings you’ll find examples of our world-famous break-your-neck outdoor iron staircases 😉

We’ve got even more snow and mild temps in the forecast for the next few days. Time to grab the camera and head out for more 🙂
