Share Your World 2016 – Week 29

Here are my answers to Cee’s Share Your World questions for week 29.

What is the perfect pizza?

Well I hope we can all agree that it certainly doesn’t come from any of the major chains.

I think everyone has their own favorite neighbourhood pizza joint and we’re no different. Ours makes an awesome thick crust pizza with a nice, almost sweet tomato sauce. Throw on lots of pepperoni and cheese and some green peppers and mushrooms and voila; here in Quebec we call this an all-dressed. Add onions and bacon to it as well and you have my perfect pizza.

What is your favorite time of day?

As a photography buff I have to go with the obvious answer: golden hours. Which are the times of day when the sun is at the perfect angle to the earth to give off that beautiful golden glow that everyone admires in landscape and nature photography. The general rule is that it lasts until about an hour after sunrise and then starts again about an hour before sunset.00808

For the non-photographic answer, I’d say early morning just after waking up. We have the timer on the coffeemaker set for 5:00, so I usually wake up by 5:15 to the smell of fresh coffee. I like to sit in bed with that first cup while Honey is still asleep, and slowly let my body and brain ease into the day. Peacefully…quietly… 🙂

Show us two of your favorites photographs?  The photos can be from anytime in your life span.  Explain why they are your favorite.

Only two?! Well, okay then… 😉

This first one was our daily morning view from the patio outside our door at the villa we stayed in for a week in Tuscany in 2013. It’s not a particularly exceptional shot from a technical or artistic standpoint, but I think I captured the mood perfectly. Every time I look at this shot it transports me back to that peaceful state of mind: on vacation, with nothing pressing and not a care in the world.

Tuscany

This is a fairly recent shot taken in one of my favorite places to visit, Peggy’s Cove in Nova Scotia. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but I am very proud of this shot.

Complete this sentence:  I’m looking forward to….

Getting some time off for a little R & R, and to work on some photo and writing projects that I keep setting aside due to a lack of time. Soon…I swear 🙂

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I was grateful for our annual family barbecue and musical jamboree last weekend. A bunch of us cousins that all grew up together decided a few years ago that time was passing too quick and we never got to see each other any more except at family funerals, so we started an annual summer get-together that we each take turns hosting. It’s always a blast and this year was no exception.

This coming week I’m looking forward to an outdoor concert/show we’re going to at the Festivale de Lanaudière in Joliette about 45 minutes north-east of Montréal.

Every summer we try to check out at least one of the outdoor shows during the month-long event which is also Canada’s largest classical music festival.

Here’s a shot of the outdoor amphitheater as people start picking their spots on the lawn before a show:

Purdy isn’t it?

Thanks to Cee for hosting this terrific weekly challenge and thank you for reading 🙂

How serendipitous – we stayed in Tuscany the same year. Beautiful view of where you were. In Lucca, so that we were withing reach (car) of Southern France, because I wanted to see the Chagall Museum in Nice. Cingue Terre was an extra benefit.

    Nice 🙂
I really love that black and white photo, too. It’s a beautiful shot and you should be proud. That Tuscan landscape is perfect as a souvenir if it takes you back like that, well, then you did it right! 🙂

  5. Norm, both those shots are excellent and you should be proud of both of them. Your choice of pizza sounds good, although it’s a bit too hot here already this morning to think about pizza or hot food. Enjoy the music!

I agree it’s salad weather, not pizza.
The show should be interesting; it’s a screening of the film The Red Violin accompanied by a live orchestra and soloist. I’m planning on taking lots of pictures just in case there’s a blog post out of it 😉
