One Liner Wednesday – Happy Birthday Grandma

Here’s my contribution for this week’s One-Liner Wednesday by Linda G. Hill:

Though she has been gone for a number of years now, around this time of year my thoughts always turn to my paternal grandmother and her mischievous sense of humor.

For as long as I can remember whenever anyone asked on her birthday how it felt to be another year older, she’d get that playful spark in her eyes, shrug and answer:

“I used to be young and beautiful; now I’m just beautiful.”

I like a little spunkiness in my elderly mother who is 87, which makes me smile to hear of your grandmother, Norm. Sending her a salute towards the heavens where she must be enjoying the scenery in. ❤

  6. Great attitude and a line lots of us can use. 🙂 Men can substitute “handsome” for “beautiful.”

I like that. I imagine she caught a number of people of guard with that response, Norm.
