I’m scraping the bottom of the archive barrel from our Nova Scotia trip last fall, but here are several interesting and as yet unused doors that just didn’t fit into any previous posts:

    I picked the blue and purple one as my favourite until I saw the orange and yellow one. Great collection of doors, as usual.
    …. and I agree, if more libraries had pubs, I suspect they would be heavily frequented 😉

    To me, Norm~ these cannot possibly be the “bottom of the barrel!” I loved them all but the most interesting one was the ragged, worn looking Lobster Shed! I think this reminds me of some of the places around Bearskin Neck, Rockport, Ipswitch and Gloucester. Oh, how I enjoy fresh lobster in a meal! 🙂

    the colors are my fav of this post – and really Norm – does it get much better than combining a library and a pub? I think not…. ha!

      Thanks. I’m thinking Library/Pub might have potential as a business venture – I just have to figure out a way to protect the books from spilled drinks 😉

        That’s a good point about the spillage – and from the comments I read it seems many readers like this pairing – so there might be something to this!
        And my son had the coolest book when he was younger – it was about food during the colonial days and they mentioned how so many folks drank beer – even kids! – because it was cleaner than water back then – and well – it reminded me of how beer is not always about getting sloshed – and some can down a tasty pint and maybe enjoy a book while doing so – hmmm

    I love all of these. Library Pub….there’s something you don’t see everyday! I love the way the sky, the traps, the orange colors, and the lobster shed all come together in the other photo. For the house doors, I love the turquoise/pink combo. It reminds me of the shore 🙂 Great set of doors!

    One of my art friends has been there for a few weeks and showed me stacks of photos – love the atmosphere there and the artsy approach to the buildings including doors. Now the Library Pub is a new one for me -am used to the Barnes and Nobels kind of stores books and coffee:) The red door is a classy one – but I love the others as well:)

      Thanks. Maybe the Library/Pub has potential – I always thought coffee and relaxing to read never really went well together. Coffee makes me too agitated to sit still for very long 😉

      I know eh? There were a number of those big old homes in the area; most are very well maintained and some of them have been converted into Inns or B&B’s.

        I’m presently working on a short story of someone who bought an old house and turned it into a B&B. She then learns the house is haunted. Together they entertain guests and make a fortune.
        If only it was that easy. ;0)

    That Library Pub was a great find at the bottom of your barrel, Norm. I’d love to see the inside. The last shot is fabulous, it looks like a doll’s house.

    I love all those doors. I am starting to think Nova Scotia might be the land of interesting doors. They are all so unique and elegant in different ways. Your bottom of the barrel has some gems indeed.

    These are all great and the house is amazing but I also have to go with the Library Pub, not only for the door, but for the library + pub. No contest. Books and a dark beer win every time. Cheers!

    I think this week’s barrel-bottom produced some very attractive Nova Scotian doors, the Library Pub, well, I could happily drop in there and I’m quite partial to No 59….

    The orange and yellow combination is stunning, as is the Victorian, but I like the Library Pub the best. The door looks to be Mission style. I wonder what the interior looks like. We have a Mission style door on our house. It came with a shelf-kit, but I never installed it. Now I fell like I want to. Of course, I also want to turn our kitchen into a pub 🙂

    You assembled a pretty good collection, Norm. I’m glad you went back to the barrel for these!

      Thanks Dan. Shelves on exterior wooden doors in our climate never made sense to me. Cute to look at but also a spot for snow and ice to accumulate – not good for the wood.
      Let me know once you’ve turned your kitchen into a pub Dan – I’ll be down straight away to be one of our first customers 🙂

        I might have to give that some thought Norm. Retirement is coming – I might need some extra income. My shelf would be behind a storm door, so I’d be safe. Otherwise, I’m with you, the last thing I need is another thing to clear.

    Those are nice photos for being from the bottom of the barrel. Did you go inside the Library Pub? I imagine it to be a very cozy and inviting place, although I wonder if you have to read something in order to buy a beer…
