Here are my answers to Cee’s Share Your World questions for this week.
When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?
It depends: In the workshop a good ole fashioned carpenter’s pencil works best for me. It’s easier to erase when I invariably change my mind on the design or dimensions of a wood project. And since my ears are too floppy to work as an effective pencil holder, the fact that these pencils are flat means they can’t roll off the workbench, so they’re always right where I leave them; and yes there is a special sharpener made just for this type of pencil.
Everywhere else I prefer pens. I have a number of nice wooden pens turned on a lathe by various friends in the the woodworking industry – the rosewood one in the middle is one of my faves.
However, my all-time favorite pen is this fancy pants Mont Blanc that I was given many years ago by an employer.
It writes soooo darn smooth. I used to carry it with me everywhere. Then a few years ago at someone’s suggestion I went online and found out how much it was worth – holy crap! I have suits that are worth less than this thing.
Now I’m so terrified of losing it I only use it for special occasions.
What’s your choice: jigsaw, word, maze or numeric puzzles?
I’m not a big puzzle fan. I used to do a lot of jigsaw puzzles as a kid and I did get into crosswords as a young adult, but now I just don’t have the patience for them. Mind you I can sit around patiently waiting for perfect lighting conditions for a photograph; so priorities I guess.
Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?
This one should be easy enough. My tastes have changed dramatically over the years but perhaps it’s best if I just show you:

Your Honour, I rest my case 😉
List some of your favorite blogs.
Oh this one is tough. I could tell you to just click on any of the links over on the right hand side of my page to discover some of the amazing, creative, funny, and talented people I follow but that would be a bit of a cop-out wouldn’t it?
Okay then since you twisted my arm Cee, here are some of my faves in no particular order:
musings of a frequent flying scientist
Playing With My First DSLR Camera
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Mom’s brother was in from out of town last week so we all got together for a nice family supper. A good time was had by all and it was nice to see Mom having fun while catching up with her bro.
Next weekend Honey and I will be marking the twenty-second anniversary of our very first date with a day-long outing involving museums and a romantic dinner for two 😉
Many thanks to Cee for her tireless work maintaining these challenges – it goes without saying that hers is one of my favorite blogs as well.
Thank you all for reading 🙂

Wishing you a whole week’s worth of anniversary celebrations, Norm. It is good to have seen your younger self, I feel I can picture your quiet, “deeper” self! 🙂
My grandson plays the bass in Orchestra, which I wasn’t sure when you said “bassist,” if it were a bass guitar or a bass instrument?

Thanks Robin. I was into bass guitar back then. One of these days I’d like to try an upright bass though 🙂

Well, you are a multi-talented man, Norm. I like your style of (carpenters) pencils, admire your Mont Blanc and would probably use black fine tip sharpies all the time.
I use the “very fine” tips for my pen and ink drawings, which next week I will feature a photo on one Door’s post and my drawing on another for Thursday’s Doors. I will double check on your name and link, Norm, too. One time a reader let me know there was a mistake. . . I apologize and corrected this as soon as possible. 🙂

Congratulations on your anniversary. Many best wishes!!
Thanks for including me on your favourites list. You made my day 🙂
I laughed at your before and after photos … only because we all have similar versions of those pictures. I’m grayer, fatter, and wrinklier than I would like. Oh, and the hair is shorter and thinner. Time takes its toll 😉

Thanks. Time and gravity do indeed take their toll

I’m very particular about pens – this have to be just exactly right! Funny because I’m not particular about most other things.

We all have things like that I think. We just know what we like and nothing else will do 🙂

Ah, the excitement of impending anniversary celebration 🙂
Thanks for including me, I’m delighted!
I was gonna say that I can’t keep a pencil on my ears, either, but I keep them in my … hair, which is the opposite of yours.
Young you looks so…. (Things you can tell just by looking at him — romantic, artistic, quiet, chivalrous, serious.)

Awe shucks, *flips back non-existent hair while blushing* 😀
Silliness aside, thanks for the kind words.

Yeah I was going for the hippie jazz bassist look. I had somehow convinced myself that girls were into that. In reality though, um…not so much 😉
