So just like last year I managed to miss my own blogaversary again.
Happy 2 years to Norm 2.0!
For some reason I seem to have a mental block on this one because I usually never forget birthdays and anniversaries. Perhaps it’s because this blog just sort of feels like it has always been there; so maybe it’s a good thing.
In any case folks back on April 19th, 2014 I hit the publish button for the first time. It’s hard to believe we’ve made two full trips around the sun since I put up this post sharing my thoughts about recently turning fifty.
A lot has happened since then, both on the blog and in my life.
On the blog this has been a record year so far, thanks in no small part to Thursday Doors. Views, likes, followers, and comments are all up dramatically and I am forever grateful for all the followers, friends, and Doors participants who have chosen to invite me to be a part of their online lives. For this I thank you – it has truly been a pleasure getting to know so many nice people from all over the world!
In my life things have been a little bumpier of late. Work and family are stable – thankfully, so no worries there; but without oversharing I will say that I have had a few health scares in the past few months related to my heart failure condition, including two brief hospitalizations.
Everything is stable and I’m not in any immediate danger, but it has forced me to slow down and spend more time taking better care of myself, and less time on here and elsewhere on social media.
So after a record month in March including the most views ever for this post, April is headed towards downright ordinary. Of course this is totally understandable; I have not been out on a personal photo-shoot in almost a month which is unheard of for me. I have not been partaking in any writing or photo challenges either, and generally I haven’t been around as much to keep up with my favourite blogs.
So what’s next?
Well, things have settled down and stabilized so the rest of this spring and summer is starting to look up again. I’ve got some interesting ideas for some upcoming Thursday Doors posts and a few ideas for mischief that should get me back to writing a little more just for the fun of it as well.
When I started this blog two years ago I had no idea what I was doing, where I was going, or how I planned to get there. I guess in that respect not much has changed 😀
What I do know is that it has been a pleasure and a privilege to make the journey with such a friendly and supportive community of individuals.
Thank you all so very much for your continued support and here’s to many more blogaversaries to come!
Maybe next year I’ll even remember to celebrate it on the 19th 😉
Congratulations and “hvala ” (=thanks) to you too. Wishing you health.

Happy Blogaversary, Norm! I thoroughly enjoyed the Thursday Doors blog posts by DAntion in 2015, and have loved doors and photographing them for years so after lurking at your posts, and others who “linked-up” I decided to jump in this year myself. It’s been a lot of fun going out on doorscursions. Thank you Joey for that term!
I wish you continued success with the blog and Thursday Doors, but most of all I wish you continued good health! You’re a treasure to so many of us. 🙂 xx

I’ve been following you for over a year now. It has definitely gone by like a flash! I have not only enjoyed your blog, but you’ve got me constantly looking at doors whenever I go out. I don’t usually have a camera other than my phone but I am constantly looking. Congrats on year two! On to year three!

Happy Blogaversary, Norm. I’m delighted you started Thursday Doors as it gives me an excuse to drag my poor husband up and down deserted muddy side roads and into towns and villages we haven’t been to in ages.(or ever). It keeps me fit, gets my creative juices flowing and has introduced me to a great bunch of bloggers, yourself included. So a big thank you from me and here’s to many more Thursday Doors and other posts. Look after your health, it needs to come first Norm. 🙂

Happy anniversary Norm. I think I’ve missed mine, almost every year. The date I might research is when I started following you. I don’t remember when I started, but I remember that I was hooked pretty quickly. Your photography is always interesting, and doors…what can I say 🙂
I hope your health conditions improve. I’ll be holding a good thought.

Thanks Dan. I think it may have been that coffee post about my dad? That’s the first interaction that I remember, but I could be wrong.
It has been lots of fun though, so here’s to more of that!

Happy anniversary! As for health, stay on top of it. I use to be of the school that the less I knew, the better. Wrong. I’m an active participant in doing everything in my power to be a round for awhile. Knowledge is power. 🙂

Norm, finding you through Thursday Doors has been such a pleasure and I’ve enjoyed not only getting to know you (and your city) a little better, but meeting all the lovely bloggers/photographers through the challenge. Congratulations on two years, but even more on taking better care of yourself, even if that means we don’t see you as often. Better to see you less often than not at all! I’ve been blogging daily for almost 4 12 years now, so I understand how it feels as though you never didn’t blog.
Take time to enjoy life and we’ll enjoy seeing you whenever we can.

Happy Blogversary Norm. Interestingly, i came across your blog while on business in Montreal and was noticing the interesting architecture (and doors) for the train as I came into town. I’m really enjoying your posts. Keep it up.

Hi Norm. I’ll never forget how delighted I was to find your Doors challenge. I was beginning to think my love of photographing doors was some kind of OCD! Well, maybe it or maybe it isn’t, but whatever, I’m happy to share it with so many like-minded people. Look after yourself. Regards, Helen
