Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing it, between Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time), by using the blue link-up button below.
A Few Doors in Old Montréal
“What do you want to do for your birthday this weekend?”
“Dinner, a show, anything you want, my treat.”
Honey replied, “I’ve been wanting to check out the Hotel Nelligan on Saint-Paul in Old Montréal – it has some wonderful old historic architecture and they seem to have a really nice indoor courtyard bar; we could go for cocktails and then have a quiet dinner at home.”
What I actually heard: Doorscursion in Old Montréal – Yeah Baby, Whoohooo!!!
So last Saturday we grabbed the camera, drove into town, and found parking in Old Montréal not far from the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel
In case you’re wondering, yes this chapel will be the subject of a future Thursday Doors post all on its own 😉
It was a beautiful sunny afternoon; a bit nippy but bearable, so we walked around for an hour or so, up and down a number of streets on our way over to the hotel. There are lots of shops, art galleries, gift stores, boutique hotels, and nice restaurants to see that are lovingly looked after, no doubt for their historic significance as well as for their drawing power with tourists from all over.
A true door lovers paradise.
I took a few dozen shots of some interesting doors but when I loaded them into the computer to have a look the next day, I noticed that I seemed to have unintentionally locked on to a colour theme.
Here are some of my faves:
Now I assure you they have wonderful doors in Old Montréal in colours other than black, but do feel free to not believe me, and come check it out for yourself 😉
On a personal note, I wanted to point out that it has been 52 weeks since converting Thursday Doors into a link-up event. We’ve come very far from our inaugural link-up post back on March 26th, 2015 with only three other contributors.
Today, week in and week out we have two to three dozen contributors sharing their travels and/or their little corner of the world with us through some wonderful doors.
Amazing!
I wanted to make a big deal about this anniversary; throw some kind of a birthday party with virtual cake and cookies, and maybe run a few special posts to celebrate, but unfortunately time has been at a premium lately.
However I do want to take a moment to thank every single one of you for being a part of this adventure. Whether you’ve been there from the beginning or only just discovered us recently, you are all an integral part of our little global family of door nuts 🙂
Your support, encouragement, and your door posts from all over the world have been inspiring and most of all FUN.
I sincerely thank you one and all – you guys ROCK!
😀 😀 😀

Doorscursion ? Great word , Norm ! You reminded me of the Simon and Garfunckle (?) line : A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest .

Also, congratulations on your Thursday’s Doors anniversary, Norm. Happy birthday to your wife. My Dad used to say my Mom was a “trooper!” 🙂 Your wife seems “game” to enjoy whatever comes along in the course of the dinner and doors.

Norm,my favorite door was #440. There is something striking in the arch above the door. I also like the way the cream bricks radiate outward. I can’t wait to hear more about the chapel with the scarlet doors. 🙂

Wow, how far you’ve come in one year – congrats to Thurs. Doors as well as to you! Then to think I thought you just started this challenge!
I smiled, because I started a month ago with 2 links, so Seasons is still in its baby stage and according to you I should have good hopes for growth!

Who doesn’t like a red church door? And one reflecting the photographer is always fun. My favorite in today’s post is the third image of the black door. The reflections of light and color draw me in to what some might think a simple, if not boring, photo. Thanks, Norm, and happy anniversary! I am happy to be a part of the group!

Happy Birthday, Thursday Doors. I’ve not joined in every week but I’ve had great fun photographing doors and showing you some of the British doors I’ve found Norm.
Good to hear that Honey had a splendid birthday. Does she ever get fed-up with you stopping and taking a photo of doors? My partner does, but I do the same when I have to go to the garden centre with him!

Happy Birthday Thursday Doors! Thanks for making this fun and easy Norm and for bringing us beautiful doors (since long before this started). I loved the door with the two round-ish Windows. All your doors are beautiful. The ones set against the light stone are stunning. But the top door included you, so I’m going to call it my favorite one today.

Yeah!! Happy birthday to you and your doors challenge! I remember clearly seeing “Thursday Doors” advertised for the first time, thinking “Oh look! Somebody is hosting a challenge made just for you!” So to you and me and everybody who contributes: many more fruitful years ahead! As for this week, I love the last one the most, as often not for the door itself, but for the symmetry, the colour scheme and the heart <3.
