Thursday Doors – February 25, 2015

Thursday Doors is a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favorite door photos from around the world. Feel free to join in on the fun by creating your own Thursday Doors post each week and then sharing it, between Thursday morning and Saturday noon (North American eastern time), by using the blue link-up button below.

Even More Lunenburg Doors – Nova Scotia

Last fall we visited the seaside town of Lunenburg Nova Scotia

and as I mentioned in a few previous posts here and here – I hit the proverbial door jackpot. The entire town is a registered UNESCO World Heritage Site and it has hundreds of lovely examples of old coastal architecture with nautical/maritime themes and bright colors.

I got so many great door shots from that place that I’ll probably be posting Lunenburg doors for months to come.

Here are a few more really nice ones:

If you ever get the chance to visit Atlantic Canada, a day or two spent in the historic fishing and shipbuilding town of Lunenburg is well worth it.

I really liked the first one which was detailed and weathered. The black snd white door is beautiful and the door knocker gorgeous, Norm. You did hit the “mother lode” of Doors!

We were walking along the cliffs of Anglesey Isle, Wales yesterday, and I repeated my lament, “We’ve got to spend time touring our own maritime provinces.” Now, you’ve given me even more incentive! I’ll be hot on the trail of house sitting gigs in Nova Scotia.

    Beautiful photography, as usual.

We did but it was partly cloaked in scaffolding for repair work, so no great photos. I did get some nice shots of St. John’s Anglican that might end up in a future Thursday Doors post 🙂

Glad I don’t have to judge a Best Door Contest here. …But, if I did, I’d have to have a three-way tie for first between the Fortress Door, the weirdly compatible fresh red/green house with the worn golden door, and spanking new red-white-and-blue barn. All first-rate, and so very different from one another!

They’re all fabulous! I love the first and last the most. The first for its hardware and the last for its texture and color. I love when things are painted the perfect color combos. I love the sweet white screen door too…Truly, they’re all fabulous.

Jackpot indeed!!! … and you still have even more?! Wow.

Where to start? Loved them all – the colours alone are amazing – but the little attention to detail like the whale tale was the icing on the cake ❤

So much to choose from today Norm. I love the worn wooden doors. I feel like they have seen so much during their service. I like the fret work on screen door (and the colors on that house) and above the windows on the house with the archerd door and arched sidelights. I really like the whale tail knocker. I love the doors on the garage at the bottom. Very nice collection today!
