Thursday Doors – December 24, 2015

It’s Christmas Eve – What Did You Expect?

So of course I decided to go with a church on Christmas Eve. And I even found one with nice bright red doors!

As I’ve mentioned before, with our French Roman Catholic heritage in the province of Québec, there’s no shortage of churches of all sizes to discover here on the island of Montréal.

Located on Boul. St. Joseph E. in Montréal’s Plateau Mont Royal borough, Église St-Pierre Claver was built between 1915 and 1917 and is one of the bigger churches in that part of the city.

Aside from its enormous red doors flanked by marble columns, it has two bell towers and many wonderful carvings in the stone archways above the doors and elsewhere on the front façade. I really love the carvings on the tops of the columns too.
