Thursday Doors – November 26, 2015

More Lunenburg Doors

Last month I posted a few of my favorites from the seaside town of Lunenburg Nova Scotia.

As I mentioned then I hit the jackpot in that place with so many great doors that I’ll have material to keep me going until spring.

This week I thought I’d post a few of the ones that need some TLC.

This one was sanded down and is just about ready for a fresh coat of paint or stain to pretty it up:

I can only imagine how nice this color must have looked back when it was freshly painted:

As for this one, I guess they need to reset that concrete step:

A quick shout-out and a Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends 🙂

  4. A nice collection Norm! Agree with you on the color of the 2nd, and it looks like that first door is not original. But that trimwork most certainly is! It will be beautiful all spiffed up 🙂 forgot to link my door up until today but I did post it yesterday. Hope you had a lovely holiday!

Great set of Doors, Norm. I am finding it amazing how many door pictures I have even before I knew about your challenge! I like the way you have grouped these. I have decided to group my in chronological order of places I visited in my 2011 year trip. That’s to start with! I may have said it before but thanks for hosting! This is a lot of fun and there are always such amazing posts from other people. My post for this week. (ignore the links title! not Cuba this week!)

I really liked the variety of “needy” doors. Hope they get much needed TLC, Norm. My favorite was the first one. It really won’t take too much effort now that the sanding to get this one polished up!” 🙂
Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend, Norm. I hope I remembered to wish you a happy Thanksgiving last month.

That first door is a real treasure in disguise:) Since hubby is a cabinet maker, his hands would be itching to work on this one!

  22. Tlc is a very interesting category. The first door and its surround is stunning even needing paint. I’ve never seen those round pieces at the very top before. The second one is similar to ones people put on over their regular door up here to weather the snow that is plowed up against them from the road, but I’ve never seen where the one door is divided into two. The third one is a handsome door, but that step sure does need some tlc. 🙂 Good ones, Norm.

Love all of these, particularly the one sanded down. I picture someone coming home to the one with the slanted step after a few pints. OY!

I loved weathered stuff. A nice, bright, fresh coat of paint is certainly pretty, but the ratty stuff has obvious history. Maybe it’s the storyteller in me. Nah, it’s probably because I’m getting a bit weathered and ratty looking myself. lol

  27. With a bit of love (and paint), these gems would be even more attractive.

It looks like the first one will get the care it deserves. They are all beautiful, even in this tough state. Still so much potential. Havd a great day Norm.
