Share Your World 2015 – Week 42

Here are my answers to Cee’s weekly prompt Share Your World

Are you usually late, early, or right on time?

I guess I’m a little old fashioned on this one because I’d honestly prefer to be a half-hour early rather than five minutes late. Hey, I hate when people make me wait for them so I really try not to do it to others.

If you were or are a writer do you prefer writing short stories, poems or novels?

Short stories or novels yes, poems…not so much. Don’t get me wrong, I love and appreciate good poetry and wish I was better at it but I was never really exposed to poetry in my younger days, so maybe that’s the reason why I shy away from it more than other types of writing.

Except for Haikus that is; I’m really not fond of most Haikus. Yes my “grumpy” is showing again, but in my defense I think it stems from a really mean grade two teacher who made us write Haikus every day for about a month, hence the Haiku has left a few scars 😛

Where did you live at age ten?  Is it the same place or town you live now?

At ten I lived in a small apartment in the east end of Montreal. For the last ten years or so Honey and I have been living in a house in the deep burbs north-east of the city.

Would you rather be able to fly or breathe under water?

Weekday traffic into the city from our area is pretty bad, so I’d take the ability to fly over that traffic any day. In fact I blame the science fiction writers of my youth for this one. According to them we were all supposed to be in flying cars by now.

Who do I need to speak to about this, because I want my flying car dagnammit?!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

We had a family gathering up north last weekend which was lots of fun. Over the next few weeks I’m looking forward to a number of other events we have scheduled that will keep us visiting with folks we don’t get to see often enough.

Thanks to Cee for all her hard work organizing and maintaining all of these prompts and challenges, and as always, thank you for reading 🙂

  1. I am one of those people that is always five minutes late and I hate it! Common sense would say then why don’t you leave five minutes earlier? I don’t know why I can’t break the habit but it makes me stressed and it is inconsiderate to others…I’ll work on that for you, Norm!

I’m with you when it comes to being on time. I had a mentor early in my career who believed that being late was disrespectful to the other person. It’s stuck with me and I’m chronically on time. I carry a book or magazine to entertainment myself for a while when I’m early.

Flying cars? I don’t know … all those vehicles clogging up the sky? I have enough issues with drones – cars would be even worse.

Being able to fly would definitely have some advantages. 😀

Oh, I always am places a half hour early. If you don’t do that, then you could be late because of traffic, unforeseen phone calls, etc. I hate making people wait, and if I am early, it is always interesting to fiddle around wherever I am. If it is someone’s home, I can explore the neighborhood or read in the car until it is time to meet. If it is meeting downtown, I can peruse shops I normally would not.
