Thursday Doors – August 20, 2015

A lovely set of doors on the quaint little St. Andrews United Church, in Wakefield in the Gatineau region of western Québec:

I just love the way these simple white doors stand out thanks to the decorative glass in the arch and the ornate black iron hardware.

I do like church doors, and your photo with those decorative iron hinges is impressive. Here’s my entry for this week: https://gwhphotos.wordpress.com/2015/08/21/thursday-doors-august-20-2015/

I like those kinds of church doors, Norm. There is something special about the peak in the arch and the trinity designated in those clover-looking shapes, Norm. Outstanding door find with the distinctive black handles, black lamp or lantern, and hinges. The details really stand out in the contrasts (hence outstanding post!)

Hi Norm, churches can have some great doors.
I found a mural this weekend with a door in the middle of it.

Hi Norm – I find these smaller churches very comforting. They evoke earlier, less frenzied years and were community gathering places for many. The ironwork in the hardware is exquisite.

I really like the hardware and I like that the windows mimic the peaked arch of the entrance. The white really does stand out especially with those massive black hinges.. Great doors Norm!

  22. Hardware is wonderful. I’ve never seen signs posted on a church door before – functional I guess. 🙂
