First Post Challenge

My blog buddy Hollie over at My Blog is My Boyfriend threw my name into the ring for this First Post Challenge that’s been going around this week.

I usually don’t participate in these challenges but since this one is real easy and I have some free time today I figured I’d play along.

Here are the rules:

Copy-paste, link, pingback, etc. your first post.

Identify the post: introduction, story, poem.

Explain why it was your first post.

Nominate five other bloggers. (Which I will not be doing – such a rebel!)

My first post on this blog dates back to April 2014. I had recently turned fifty and unlike a number of my friends who had been struggling with this milestone themselves, I wanted to put a positive spin on it.

I got the idea for the post from a similar one I saw online, and as soon as I read it I knew this would be an excellent way to kick off my blog. The post is essentially a list of my top 50 reasons why I was okay with hitting the half century mark.

So without further ado, here’s my first post:

My Thoughts on Turning Fifty

Thanks to Hollie for nominating me on this one. Obviously I had very few followers back then so this is a great way to introduce some of my newer friends to my older posts.

If you haven’t read Hollie’s blog before you may want to check it out. She has a very direct way with her words and a unique style that has made me laugh countless times over the past year.

If you like the idea and would like to try it out for yourself, please consider yourself nominated.

As always, thanks for reading.

  1. How I love it Norm! You can really do/be all that? I am turning 50 this November and I have work to do to get there. You sound like an awesome person, good for you.
Here are some lines that really grabbed my attention, made me smile or some way or another spoke to me:
    26. When it’s cold outside, put on a hat, scarf, boots, and gloves. ( 🙂 I got that, been doing it for quite some years already)
    30. Raise my personal standards without holding others to them. (love that, but still have to work on it.)
    32. Flush toxic, drama-driven people from my life. (That I am glad to say, I learned to do at a very young age and it is crucial to happiness, I think.)
    41. Appreciate art in all its forms for the talent and dedication needed to produce it, even if I don’t always understand it. (I’ve learned that a couple of years ago, how wonderful.)
    48. When I don’t like an answer, not be afraid to ask a better question. (How cleaver is that??? I’ll have to remember it.)
    Thanks for sharing
