If We Were Having Coffee: Looking Forward to Spring

If we were having coffee I’d thank you for joining me. It has been a while hasn’t it?

I knew my schedule was going to keep me pretty busy through February and now here we are half way through March and I’m still tied up with a few projects.

I have two weeks left in my novella writing course and I just have a few pages left to write to finish my story. It looks like I’ll have plenty of time left for proofing and editing, for a change :-), before I hand in the final assignment.

I’d tell you that despite not being around as much and seeing a drop in traffic because of it, I actually hit a couple of nice milestones in February. I topped 500 followers on Twitter and 400 for my blog. I’m not the type to get obsessed with numbers and stats but I thought that was pretty cool.

Our weekend getaway to Quebec City at the end of the month did us both some good. Unplugging and recharging the batteries was a nice change of pace from the previous few hectic weeks.

The Ice Hotel experience was amazing. I still haven’t quite finished writing that post but I should have it up some time this week. And the side trip to Montmorency Falls netted some amazing pics that you can see here and here.

We spent a quiet Saturday strolling through the streets of old Quebec which we’d never done before in winter. It was a relatively mild day and at that time of year there’s so few tourists that it was a really special feeling, almost as if we had the place to ourselves.

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that we’re starting to see signs we’ve turned the corner and spring is on its way. Out the back window, I can see the top of our compost bin which was still totally covered by snow last week, so the stuff is melting.

During the seasonal transition I’ll probably be posting more writing and fewer photos just because there’s really not a lot of great photo ops while waiting for the snow to melt.

I’ll use that time to start putting together a schedule for the blog as well, which is something I have yet to do. I’ve always had a good idea in my head of what posts I was planning but I think it might be time to put it down on paper.

One thing’s for sure, my Thursday Doors feature is staying mostly because it is one of my favorites. And in the future I want to try taking part in a few more photo challenges too.

I’d also tell you that I’ve been thinking about putting together a Montreal area meet-and-greet for later this spring, or perhaps early summer when the weather gets warmer. Doing a rough count I think there’s at least a dozen Montreal area regulars that I know of, and I think it might be fun to get together on an outdoor terrasse somewhere to talk WordPress, Writing, Photography, and blogging in general.

Nothing is decided yet, but if any of you locals are interested, or if any out-of-towners are planning trips to this area let me know; hopefully we can get a nice gang together.
