This is a side door from St. James the Apostle Anglican Church on Ste-Catherine Street in Downtown Montréal.
The side door is a lot less decorative than the main one but I loved the rich colour of the stained oak. I also really liked the skewed perspective I was getting by shooting wide angle while standing part way down the steps; in fact I may have been crouching or kneeling when I took this shot to further amplify the effect.
Let me know what you think, and as always thank you for looking 🙂
Love the perspective and how the tree hovers over top. 👍😊

Beautiful result! I tried to take a photo like this once and nearly toppled over backwards. You’ve captured the majesty perfectly.

Thanks I’m glad you like it. Yes, you have to be careful when tilting your head backwards and pointing the camera up. It always makes me a little dizzy.

The main door has a lot more ornate carvings and decorative elements. This one has a certain majestic simplicity about it that I like.

I love these door photos. I wish my hometown had more ornamental architecture.
Also, no sure if it’s new, or it’s just taken me this long to notice, but that header image is superb.

Thanks for the kind words.
I bet you’d be surprised what you find if you went looking for interesting doors in your area.
The new header is from Boboli gardens in Florence Italy. I put it up when i did the re-brading last week. I use it on my Twitter page as well.

Beautiful. I like the light from the windows matching the glass in the side lamps too.

When I take photos like that one, the taller the building is, the more I get the vertigo by just watching in the viewfinder of my camera
