Someday I will play in the snow and skate in a frozen river. Well, I need to learn how to skate first. Most, if not every child’s dream in a tropical country.

As long as it’s not too cold and you dress properly it can be a lot of fun. I hope you get to try it someday 🙂

I wish I had a river that I could skate away on.
No, wait. That’s Joni Mitchell that wishes that. I wish I had a hot cocoa to complete the ambiance.
Great picture!

Thanks for the kind words. Hot cocoa would be good right about now, they’re forecasting the coldest so far night this winter.

Was it frozen enough to skate on, Norm? Not I am saying that you should try.

If not then, it is by now Hugh. It went down to minus 29 C the last few nights so you could probably drive a car on it today.

Wow, I’m glad we don’t get anything like that here in the UK, Norm. It only takes the one snowflake to fall on London, and the whole country comes to a grinding halt!

Beautiful and inviting … if you’re dressed appropriately! 🙂

Yes, and it was a relatively mild minus 5 C that day.

It is a miracle I didn’t break my neck walking on those icy sidewalks in Montreal yesterday! 🙂

We had freezing rain all weekend and then a big deep-freeze late Sunday. I don’t know the whole story but there was a big deal made in the media that the city didn’t call out the salt/sand crews over the weekend in order to save money on overtime. I can’t believe that liability lawsuits would be cheaper…

The cab driver Monday night (the one I waited an hour for, in a line up with 300 other recent arrivals) told me that the giant line for taxis was because of all the cancelled flights the previous day. (Everyone finally arrived!) He pointed out areas that were literally skating rinks. Tuesday I was with my local rep all day, he only hit some black ice once. The main roads and highways were fine, but the secondary roads were pretty bad. The sidewalks in old Montreal were a sheet of ice. Crazy!

I just stopped by the river on the way to work to take some pics of the frozen river! Your river is more frozen than mine!

It has been nasty cold here all week and it’s supposed to stay that way for at least a few more days.
