So what does a typical middle-aged Canadian male do on a lazy Sunday afternoon while his wife is out visiting family and he’s at home in his jammies nursing a nasty summer cold?
Well if you guessed visiting websites with names like BodaciousBazongas.com while adjusting his computer screen with one hand, you’d be wrong!
I’m actually doing something even more pointless. Today in honor/protest of the World Cup 2014 final, I’m trying to get the hashtag #AnythingButSoccer trending on twitter.
If you read my previous post on the World Cup a while back http://wp.me/p4yv1P-1f you know how I feel about the game.
Yes it takes an amazing level of skill and fitness, but compared to hi-scoring, action-packed games that we’re used to here in North America such as, Hockey, Football, Basketball, or The Bachelorette, soccer moves at a snail’s pace. Not to mention the fact that these millionaire athletes are just a bunch of pansies who pretend to be hurt as soon as someone just looks at them.
Any of you who are on twitter and want to play along, simply send out a tweet with a list of two or three lame, boring, or painful things you’d rather be doing this afternoon, along with the hashtag #AnythingButSoccer and let’s see if we in the anti-soccer crowd can have our voices heard too.
Here are a few examples to get you started:
Regardless of the score today (which will probably be 1-0) this is the last game and then the soccer nuts will leave us alone for another four years. So no matter what happens, we all still win!
By the way, don’t judge me okay? Laundry is already done and put away. Steaks that I’m going to barbecue for supper tonight are marinating in the fridge and will be ready when Honey gets home, and the doorbell that I promised Honey I would fix has been taken care of already.
Now to your tweets!
